Barf on the Irony

About two months ago I left academia to start a position at a company that has one of only a handful of drugs that will cure a certain type of leukemia. I love my new work and I’m compensated well for it.
I just found out that my younger sister, a mother of two, has chronic leukemia (diagnosed from blood work, pending a biopsy). Even though its probable that she can be cured, she’s in for a painful haul of chemo and/or radiation therapy.
I’d rather be a malcontent academic again with a healthy sister.
Unfortunately, no one asked for my preference beforehand.

Sorry to read that B. All the best to your family.
Best wishes to your sister and your family.
Sorry to hear about that Byron, best wishes to your sister
I’m sure what you’re doing with your new company will help future brothers help future sisters come through less painfully and arduously.
I hope for the best with your sister.
When live throws me curve balls I remember life isnt Just it Just is. I know with your work you can make a difference. A long-time friend/mentor from my running club is going thru this right now with Leukemia. All the best to you and your sister. Youll be in my thoughts and mantras.
That’s rough news. Thoughts and prayers with your family.
Sisters are wonderful and I hope yours feels tip top again soon.
Sorry to hear that B. All the best to your sister and her family…
My thoughts are with you and your sister, darlin.
My thoughts are with you and your sister as well.
That blows. Hope everything turns out okay and let me know if there’s ever anything I can do to help.
I send my virtual prayers to your sister B.
Hope there’s a speedy recovery.
